Newfoundland and Labrador - Canada’s easternmost province is best known for its island culture and beautiful scenery. However Marble Mountain on the east coast near Corner Brook is quickly gaining international attention. While its highest peak is only 1791 feet (546m), the island scenery from the top is unparalleled and the annual dump of 16 feet (5m) means more than enough white stuff to ensure a great Canadian ski vacation.
Quebec – Mont Tremblant, Quebec’s largest resort, offers some of the best skiing in eastern Canada. With 94 runs and 13 fully functioning modern lifts, this place offers the most trails east of the Rockies. Its vertical drop of 2116 feet (645 m) and an annual snowfall of 150 inches (382cm) found its claim as the reigning resort in Québec. Other popular ski resorts include Mont Sainte Anne, near Quebec City, voted one of the best ski resorts in the province and Mont Saint-Sauveur near Montréal.
Ontario – Blue Mountain Resort is Ontario’s largest ski resort. Conveniently located 90 minutes away from the country’s largest city, Toronto, Blue Mountain boasts a vertical of 720 feet (220 m), and 34 trails catering to beginners as well as experts. Mix the city life with the slopes for a great Canadian ski vacation.
Alberta – Lake Louise, in the heart of Banff National park contains 4,200 skiable acres (1700 ha) of world-class terrain and ranks among the biggest ski areas in North America. With more skiing than you can easily fit into one vacation, 139 trails range from beginner to double black diamond. The scenery defies description and the après ski and the ski village remain unparalleled in the world.
British Columbia – Whistler-Blackcomb is the king of all Canadian ski resorts. Rising 5,280 foot (1609 m) from base to summit, Whistler Blackcomb is doused with a generous 33 feet (10 m) of pristine white snow each year. At 8,171 skiable acres (3306 ha), this ski resort is double the size of other North American ski resorts and a must on every skier’s to do list.
